LocationLindfields is situated to the west on the 192 (the Irlo Bronson Highway) and is just 4 miles from Disney's Maingate, the main entrance to Disneyworld. Along the 192 which goes all the way east to Orange Blossom Trail (SR441) in the centre of Kissimmee, you'll also find every type of shop and eating house you'd want.
Closer to home there are pizza stores, bars and restaurants, all of whom can deliver if needed. The more adventurous may even wish to walk to them, as they are only a 10 minute stroll, but it must be stressed that due to the quiet location there is a lack of sidewalk along the main road, and crossing when traffic is heavy would be difficult for the elderly or young children.
Public transport is available, and a local Lynx service runs along 192 stopping at the top of Lindfields Boulevard. I would always recommend that anyone visiting the Orlando/Kissimme area has their own transport but it is possible to get around on the bus. Bear in mind, however, that it could involve a number of separate bus routes, and each service runs once every 30 minutes or so.
The Interstate 4 is only minutes away giving easy access to Sea World, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, and International Drive, approximately 15 minutes drive, plus access to all the other attractions within the Florida area Gulf beaches and the Space Coast.
Further informationBelieve it or not, there is more to Florida than Walt Disney and Universal Studios!
There a numerous smaller attractions in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, details of which may be found by following the links to the local attractions on the Links page, or from the literature that you will find in the welcome pack at the condo.
Within a short drive is the Kennedy Space Centre and the beaches of the Atlantic coast, or one of the older attractions ‘Silver Springs’ near to Ocala. The crystal clear water of this location was the scene for many old films, including the Tarzan films starring Johnny Wiessmuller. It is a good place for a relaxing day spotting the local Floridian wild life.
If you are interested in the flora and fauna of Florida, why not take a short drive over to Citrus County and enjoy canoeing, snorkelling, diving or even hunting (depending on the season). If you are lucky you may get to swim with one of the endangered manatees.
If you have time to spare you could even consider a trip to Saint Augustine, between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach on the Atlantic coast. It is Americas oldest city and is a must for history buffs.
And of course no visit to the parks would be complete without a visit to Busch Gardens at Tampa, it has rides there to rival any of those at the other parks, and has the added fun of seeing all the animals you would expect on an African safari.
Even if you decide to stay within a short distance of our condo we know that there will be enough to keep you entertained whatever your tastes. We hope you enjoy your stay, and look forward to you returning sometime in the future.
ShoppingApart from all the souvenirs in the Theme Park Shops, don't forget the American outlets. They are on every main road and some real bargains can be found, but just remember that a lot of electrical goods are not suitable for UK use.
Make time to visit at least one of the malls - two of the largest are the Florida Mall (on the junction of Sand Lake Rd. and Orange Blossom Trail), and Altamonte Mall (exit 46 off the I4).
